QuickLens helps you search your photos using AI. Here's the deal:
- Most processing happens on your phone - OCR and text recognition run locally
- We only see thumbnails - if you use remote analysis, we get tiny versions, never full photos
- We don't sell your data - period
- You control everything - revoke access anytime through your device settings
- Based in EU - we're GDPR compliant from day one

What is QuickLens?
QuickLens is Smart photo gallery and search app with AI-powered image analysis. We built it to help you find your photos faster, not to collect your data.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We're a Romanian company (MERGE PAGE CE7 SRL), so we follow GDPR rules.
By using QuickLens, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If something doesn't sit right with you, reach out before you commit - or just don't use the app. No hard feelings.
What data do we collect?
Your Photos (sort of)
The short version: Your full-resolution photos never leave your device unless you explicitly choose remote analysis. And even then, we only get thumbnails.
The details:
- We need permission to access your photo library (you grant this when you first use the app)
- Photos are processed on your device using OCR to extract text
- If you're a premium user using remote analysis, we upload small thumbnails (not full images) to our servers
- We never access your camera or photos without asking first
Device Information
We collect some basic info to make the app work:
- App Set ID - a unique identifier for your device (helps us keep your subscription and settings in sync)
- Device Type - iOS/Android, your OS version, device model
- App Version - which version of QuickLens you're running
Your Search Queries
When you search for photos, we store:
- Search terms you type (to help you find images and improve search results)
- Search results (cached locally on your device for faster access)
OCR Text (Stays On Your Device)
Here's the privacy-first part:
- We use Google ML Kit to read text from your images locally on your device
- The extracted text is stored in a local database on your phone
- This text never leaves your device unless you upload images for remote analysis
- Delete the app = all this data disappears
Subscription Info
We use RevenueCat to handle subscriptions:
- Your subscription status
- Purchase transactions (handled by Apple/Google, not us)
- Device identifiers (so you can use your subscription on your devices)

Legal Requirements
We'll share your data if the law requires it:

Business Transfers
If we get acquired or merge with another company, your data might transfer to them. We'll let you know if this happens.
Where is my data stored?
On Your Device:
- OCR text and image metadata (stored in Isar database)
- App preferences

- All deleted when you uninstall the app
On Our Servers (European Union):
- Image thumbnails (if you use remote analysis)
- Search queries
- Your device ID
At RevenueCat (subscription service):
- Subscription status and purchase history
Security
We use standard security practices:
- HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit
- Secure authentication
- Access controls (only our team can access server data)
- Regular security updates
Real talk: No system is 100% secure. We do our best, but we can't guarantee absolute security. That's why we minimize what we collect in the first place.
How long do you keep my data?
We don't keep data longer than we need to:
- Account data: As long as your account is active, plus 30 days after account deletion
- Image thumbnails: Images are processed locally and remotely; thumbnails on server are retained for 90 days or until account deletion
- OCR text: OCR text is stored locally on your device and deleted when you uninstall the app
- Search queries: Search queries are retained for 90 days for service improvement
- Subscription info: Subscription information is retained as long as required for tax and legal compliance (typically 7 years)
- Server logs: Server logs are retained for 90 days
Want everything deleted? Email us at [email protected] or just uninstall the app (deletes all local data immediately).
What are my rights?
If you're in the EU/EEA:

- Rectification - Fix incorrect data
- Erasure - Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability - Get your data in a machine-readable format
- Object - Object to how we process your data

Control your data in the app:
Photo Access:
- Go to Settings → QuickLens → Photos
- Revoke access anytime (app won't work without it, though)
Camera Access:
- Settings → QuickLens → Camera
Delete Everything:
- Uninstall the app - all local data gone
- Want server data deleted too? Email [email protected]
Children's Privacy
QuickLens is not for kids under 13 (or 16 in the EU).
If you're a parent and think your child has used the app, email us at [email protected]. We'll delete their data immediately.

We use a few third-party services. We don't control them, so check their privacy policies:

Changes to This Policy
We might update this privacy policy occasionally. When we do:
- We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- We'll post the new version in the app
- For major changes, we'll send you a notification
If you keep using the app after we update the policy, you're agreeing to the new terms. Check back once in a while to stay in the loop.
